The Red Lineage Prints by Ubi Workshop
MATH, May 13, 2016

A few years ago Ubi Workshop challenged the creators of Assassin’s Creed to give us a new perspective on the characters they designed. That’s when the project of the Red Lineage prints was created. Each of the signed and limited (to 300 units) giclée print was designed to reflect the influence of the Assassins with a background that echoed the era of the games. This collection of seven exquisite art prints were reproduced on Textured Fine Art White paper (310 GSM / 100% Cotton, size: 10” x 13”). Each were sold at a 69,99 US$ price tag and started to be shipped to the fans in July 2014.

You will find below the pictures of the prints with each selected characters of the franchise for this project, revisited by Art Director Nicolas Drolet and Senior Concept Artists Remko Troost and Vincent Gaigneux , each with thoughts from them and also from Raphael Lacoste, Art Director of the Assassin’s Creed brand. Those thoughts can be found written inside each of the slip case that were nicely crafted by the Ubi Workshop team to protect the art pieces.

Do you own any of these beautiful pieces? Which one is your favorite and why? What do you think of them? Let us know in the comments below!

AVELINE DE GRANPRÉ (3/7) (August 2014)

[First thoughts by Raphael Lacoste (Art Director on Assassin’s Creed Franchise)
Aveline de Granpré was an assassin of the XVIII century operating in New Orleans. Born of a french father and african slave mother, she is a multicultural, and audacious, impetuous girl. After her mother disappeared and seeing the fate of slaves, she revolted and decided to fight with the Assassins. Her look is subtly linked to Assassin’s visual codes: she wears a sharpened three-cornered hat, has triangular angles on her suit and, of course, a hidden blade.]

[Vincent Gaigneux’s rendition (Senior Concept Artist on Assassin’s Creed)
Vincent Gaigneux drew the assassin girl with her impetuous attitude; the pose and her focused stare both depict her behaviour quite well. In the background, a bell tower reminds us of the setting and vertical landmarks that the assassins are used to climb to perform their leap of faith, or acquire information about the location they are exploring. The red of the belt is creating an interesting colour accent within the black and white tones, this is a nice artistic and traditional interpretation of a 3D character!]
