The Red Lineage Prints by Ubi Workshop
MATH, May 13, 2016
A few years ago Ubi Workshop challenged the creators of Assassin’s Creed to give us a new perspective on the characters they designed. That’s when the project of the Red Lineage prints was created. Each of the signed and limited (to 300 units) giclée print was designed to reflect the influence of the Assassins with a background that echoed the era of the games. This collection of seven exquisite art prints were reproduced on Textured Fine Art White paper (310 GSM / 100% Cotton, size: 10” x 13”). Each were sold at a 69,99 US$ price tag and started to be shipped to the fans in July 2014. You will find below the pictures of the prints with each selected characters of the franchise for this project, revisited by Art Director Nicolas Drolet and Senior Concept Artists Remko Troost and Vincent Gaigneux , each with thoughts from them and also from Raphael Lacoste, Art Director of the Assassin’s Creed brand. Those thoughts can be found written inside each of the slip case that were nicely crafted by the Ubi Workshop team to protect the art pieces. Do you own any of these beautiful pieces? Which one is your favorite and why? What do you think of them? Let us know in the comments below! EDWARD KENWAY (2/7) (July 2014) [First thoughts by Raphael Lacoste (Art Director on Assassin’s Creed Franchise) Edward Kenway was a British Pirate, who turned into an assassin in the Caribbean seas during the early 18th century. Quite a selfish guy, he looked for fortune and adventure, and like many privateers left by the crown with no contracts in the warm seas of the Caribbean’s, he turned into piracy to fulfill those desires… Edward was young, brash and brutal, he had no pity for his enemies and was mainly motivated by his own fortune and wealth. But eventually, after joining the Assassins he learned how to embrace a greater cause and matured into less selfish ways. After his dangerously turbulent life in the Caribbean and losing many of his great friends, he retired in England, and became the father of Haytham Kenway, then the grandfather of Connor from ACIII.] [Remko Troost’s rendition (Senior Concept Artist on Assassin’s Creed) Edward is a character created by Vincent Gaigneux, one of my great friends and above all a very talented and humble artist. It was a blast to kind of enter inside Vincent’s head and try to figure out why he designed him this way. Through rough strokes, the sketchy set-up, and the dynamic pose, I tried to have Edward’s kind of impulsive and strong character show through.]
